Entry level motorsport couldn't get any easier!
Follow our progress as we buy a car from Trade Me and prepare it to join the Series on the grid.
We will be documenting our progress through the stages of the project, to convert a road car to a race car.
We have chosen to use an Alfa 156 2.0 litre, normally aspirated, 5-speed manual.
A group of 6 Trofeo Drivers agreed to contibute funds for the purchase and development of the car. The car will be developed using our joint resources, skills an knowledge over the season, and will be offered for sale to recoup our investment at the end of the season.
Arrangements to pay & pick the car up are made. Insurance is arranged and the great people at Classic Car Insurance have offered 12 months complimentary Road Race Rally (Comprehensive Cover)
Great drive back confirming that this is a great example to develop to a race car.
Driving up the Northern motorway as a smart yet unremarkable silver sedan. About an hour later driving away looking like a race car with door cards, race numbers, Trofeo Series banner and the Driver's name on the rear windows 'Tarquini'.
We've been invited to show our Project Car and talk to visitors about how to get involved in Motorsport 3pm All set up ready for the morning - See you there
We talked to lots of people interested in our build, and undertaking their own projects. We enjoyed catching up with drivers and faces from seasons gone by and perhaps re-igniting some passion. Thanks to CRC Speedshow, Classic Cover Insurance, Express Signs for helping us get the car there.
The Project Team has drawn up a program and a checklist. First up is a work session this Saturday to assess the car, and the work to be done ahead of the AROC Bay of Plenty Track Experience day at Taupo on the 12th August.
