Our 2017/2018 Season Calendar is released
Trofeo Series has released the calendar for the 2017/2018 season
The competition season will consist of 7 points rounds, at 4 tracks. The Series is pleased to include 3 new events into the calendar. Trofeo Series Chairman Wendy Metcalfe says that the Series is thrilled that they have been able to secure the new rounds which will bring the number of Taupo rounds to three, and will add a Manfeild points round to the season. This returns the calendar to being centred around Lake Taupo where the Series has enjoyed some of its best social gatherings. It is hoped that the new calendar will bring Italian racers out of their sheds from Wellington north to contest the Series Trophies and bragging rights.
Trofeo Series offers 4 different race classes, providing competition for semi-standard through to dedicated & developed race cars. This year's competition consists of separate Class and Handicap competitions. Each round will consist of 3 races, one scratch race and two reverse handicap grids, of which one will count in the Class competition and the final race at each meeting will provide the Handicap competition.
The Season will begin on 30 September/1 October with the traditional HRC Events 'Icebreaker' meeting. This is one week later than initially indicated in our calendar survey. (Please note Confirmed dates for Round 3 Taupo, and Round 5 also changed by one week each from the dates included in our pre-season survey)
Rounds 2 & 3 are new rounds for Trofeo - having received invitations to compete at Manfeild (Manawatu Car Club/IRC OctFast) at Labour Weekend (21/22 Oct), and Taupo 18/19 November (Taupo Car Club Summer Series 1).
Right back after Christmas/New Year we return to Taupo for the HRC Events Tasman Revival #1 event , before returning to the historic Pukekohe track for Tasman Revival #3.
The final two rounds will also be held at HRC Events meetings, the always well supported Legends of Speed - where winner of the final handicap race will take home a Trophy; before the Series is wrapped up by returning for the third time to Taupo for our third new calendar event the Great Lakes meeting 7 April. Trofeo Series will run on the first day of the event only, with Prizegiving to follow the day's racing.
The Series also supports non-points rounds & Driver Experience/Training events run by Alfa Romeo Owners Club and HRC Events/Women in Motorsport with Trofeo Drivers providing coaching.
Not to be missed. The Trofeo Series committee have a number of new ideas and features to introduce over the Season. Pre-Season contacts suggest some interesting new cars to join, and we also look forward to confirming new specifications for Trofeo class.
Trofeo welcomes entries and inquiries from racers with Italian cars. Information and assistance is always available, you'll find out why this Series is in its 27th year, and what makes the Series a great bunch to run with.
