ERC Dinner - Ray Green

ERC Dinner 11 June 2016 -  30 Years

One of the great things about Trofeo racing is that we are also welcomed into the ERC grid, with a good number of Trofeo racers having raced in both Series over the years. ERC Series (which began life as the BMC Series in 1986) celebrated its 30 Seasons of racing on the 11 June. It was also a farewell to Convenor and Racer Ray Green who retired from the track at Legends of Speed this year, and has passed running of the ERC Series to Chris Browne (one of our Trofeo Drivers, and Past Chairman).

The event in Ellerslie saw a packed Dining Hall and free flowing tributes to the Series, its BMC founder Donn White, and Ray Green who has guided the evolution of the Series to being a vibrant and popular series for the past 20 years were warmly given and received. It wouldn't have been an ERC dinner without the 'International' News and brilliant commentary & caption to photos and stories about the Season past and the season ahead. All influenced by Ray's wonderful sense of humour. Adam Jones' Fast Files video of Driver comments and an interview of Ray showed the esteem with which the Series is held by its members.

Trofeo Series has enjoyed the goodwill that exists between the two series, the camaraderie and common goals shared. We'd like to acknowledge and thank Ray Green for his generosity and co-operation as we've worked to ensure that both Series continue to enjoy fun, affordable and competitive racing of our classic, but not always 'pure' race cars.

We'll look forward to Ray continuing to be part of our race scene with his media pass and camera - to Chris we give our best wishes for his new role, and look forward to a continuing collaboration between our two groups.
